| THE JANE BLOCK DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES THE DEPARTMENT OF WOMEN'S STUDIES PRESENTS: "Campesinas' Movement & the Power of the Collective” By Mily Trevino-Sauceda Wednesday February 10, 2010 12:00-3:00 pm UCR HMNSS 1500 This talk focuses on various issues affecting farm workers, women's lives such as women & labor, women's health and health disparities, pesticides, environmental issues. Mily Treviño-Sauceda is the founder and the former Executive Director of Organización en California de Líderes Campesinas, Inc., known as “Líderes Campesina.” Ms. Treviño-Sauceda was born to an immigrant farmworker family, and became an agricultural and migrant worker by the age of eight. She was a farmworker organizer and worked for the United Farmworker's union. Mily was the founder and first President of “Mujeres Mexicanas” (Mexican Women) group in the Coachella Valley region. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Chicano Studies and a Minor in Women Studies from California State University of Fullerton.
